Double Divas – Lifetime

January 23, 2013

Has the Lifetime network finally learned to embrace its ridiculousness?  This year, it changed its logo into something that’s as strange as the movies it makes, expanded Abby Lee Miller’s position on the network to have her on two shows: Dance Moms and Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.  And most recently launched Double Divas: a reality show following the co-owners of a lingerie store in Atlanta, Georgia.

Basically, the show is like any other reality series and manufactures different situations for the store owners, Molly and Cynthia, to go out and save the day with lingerie.  They present themselves like they’re superheroes, that they can do what no one else can (case in point: the second episode where they help Norma Stits, a woman with ginormous boobs…legit, small children sized chesticles).  But unlike other reality shows, this isn’t filled with mass amounts of drama and girl-on-girl fighting slash bitch out scenes. Molly and Cynthia only ever really butt heads with their employee, Olivia (a wannabe singer slash rapper slash model slash I’m not really sure what else), who seems more like a little sister to the two of them than an employee.

Perhaps the most awkward part of the series is how seriously the women take themselves; they realize that they’re lingerie fitters or whatever, but if you hear them tell it, they’re miracle workers.  And granted, I don’t have boobs and don’t have to worry about getting a properly-fitting bra, but it’s still a bra.  The show will most likely draw the curious eye because of the alleged risqueness of it, but the show is quite tame.  It’s no different than a really drawn out Victoria’s Secret commercial, with some behind the scenes stupidity thrown in.

  1. Just what we need. I havent even watched but I think we have reached a new low in television programming. Take it off the air and put some decent programming on. I go thru my listings and it is difficult to find ANYTHING decent to watch. Reality TV, I think we are not the ones who need a dose of reality.RIDICULOUS

maybe if you watched it you would be able to give an educated opinion of the show. Think on that for a while

I think this show is the worse show ever put on television! You can tell every situation is set up and not “real”. They also make themselves out to be christian women that help women. Come on people, they are using this show as a marketing tool to make more money! It’s fake and so are they! The Cynthia on the show is the worst of them all!
